Notifications

Notifications are delivered as a result of an Arcules Rule being triggered, where the Send a Notification option is utilized.

Updated over 2 weeks ago

Overview

When you create a rule, you have the option to configure specific actions to be performed when the rule is triggered, this article discusses the Send a Notification option.

A notification by itself, is purely an informative piece of information, providing a link to the video footage in question.

A notification as part of an Alarm will send you a message linking you to the alarm event that you can take actions on.

How to Receive Your Notifications

Before you receive any notification, it's important to configure which delivery methods can be used to send a notification.

1. On the bottom left section of the Arcules Web Portal, click on the profile icon to open the menu. Then click on the MY ACCOUNT link.

2. In the Notification Delivery section you can configure which method will be used to send the notifications: Email, SMS, and Push.

You can utilize any or all of these delivery options to consume your Notifications.

  • SMS does require a mobile number to be associated to your account

  • Push Notifications does require the Arcules Mobile Application installed on your mobile device.

Configure Your Rule to Send Notifications

There are two ways to receive a notification when configuring the Actions of a rule.

Option 1: Action Type - Send a Notification

When setting up the action of a rule, select the Send a Notification option.

Then, enter the body of the Notification in the Message input box.

Click the Save button to finish the configuration of the rule.

Option 2: Enabling the "Send Notification" Checkbox

When selecting the Trigger an Alarm option for the rule's Action Type, there is a checkbox called Send Notification (that is located below the Protocol input box). When you enable this checkbox, and the action of the rule is triggered, two things happen:

a) An alarm is created

b) a Notification is sent

Both elements will include the information of the event.

Note: After selecting the Rule's Action Type, don't forget to click on the Save button to finish the configuration of the rule.

Push

This option allows you to receive notifications on the mobile application.

Note: When using push notification on mobile devices, remember to allow the Arcules app on your iOS or Android device to send push notifications.

To ensure push notifications are continually received, do not log out of the Arcules app on your mobile device. If your session duration has timed out, you will continue to receive push notifications. Logging out of your account will stop push notifications.
