How to add audio devices into Arcules

Introduction

Arcules offers the following audio features in the web application:

  • Live streaming of audio through the web application

  • Listen from a network device microphone

  • Speak out to a network device speaker

Audio Device Support

  • Axis (VAPIX®) network speakers, horns, audio modules, and cameras with built-in audio sources.

  • Camera-to-Cloud devices are currently not supported.

Prerequisites

WebRTC must be enabled for the organization.

How to

Adding a new Axis audio device

  1. On the left hand side menu, navigate to the Devices page and then click the plus (+) button in the top right corner. Select Add Device and choose the Gateway connection option.

  2. In this section you will be prompted to add the audio device’s IP address, username, and password to connect. The wizard will auto-detect devices within your same network. If an audio device is not found, you have the option to manually add it by clicking the '+' button.

  3. Once the audio device is added, it will automatically appear in the Connected tab. Here, you can toggle on audio sources for your audio devices.

  4. On the Devices page, you can view your standalone audio devices.

Enabling audio for existing Axis cameras

  1. On the left hand side menu, navigate to the Devices page and then click the plus (+) button in the top right corner. Select Add Device and choose the Gateway connection option.

  2. Click the Connected tab and scroll down to the Video Devices section. Here, you can toggle on Microphone and Speaker audio sources for your existing cameras with built-in audio support.
