Download Speed

The Download Speed portion of Arcules NetReady measures your internet download speed. A higher download speed means that data can be received more efficiently, which is crucial for streaming audio and video without buffering or interruptions. Lower download speed can result in delays in audio/video playback, reduced quality, or dropped connections.

Arcules NetReady utilizes Cloudflare's speed test to determine how fast data is transferred to your device from the internet. Please note that while this speed test is intended to provide insights into your network speed, actual speeds experienced during regular usage may differ. For more information, refer to Clouldflare's documentation here.

Upload Speed

The Upload Speed portion of Arcules NetReady measures your internet upload speed. Upload speed is important for transmitting data between devices and servers. Lower upload speed can lead to delays in transmitting audio/video streams, which can result in laggy or choppy audio/video playback.

Arcules NetReady utilizes Cloudlare's speed test to characterize the amount of data your device can send to the internet. Please note that while this speed test is intended to provide insights into your network speed, actual speeds experienced during regular usage may differ. For more information, refer to Clouldflare's documentation here.

WebRTC

The WebRTC portion of Arcules NetReady checks whether your browser can establish a WebRTC connection. A WebRTC connection is required for local live, local playback, and live listening (audio) features within the Arcules platform.

During this test, the client's browser generates two WebRTC peers. Then, the browser will establish a peer-to-peer (P2P) connection between them. After a connection has been established, one of the peers will send a message to the other. Once the browser validates that the other peer has received the message, the test is marked as passed.

If the test fails, it may indicate firewall, network restrictions, or security software that is blocking WebRTC traffic. Browser issues, such as compatibility, version, and installed extensions, could also be contributing factors.

Troubleshooting:

  1. Ensure that your network allows UDP traffic over port 443.

  2. Check your device's security software and/or firewall settings to ensure that WebRTC traffic is allowed.

  3. Check whether your browser supports WebRTC and ensure that it is updated to the latest version.

  4. Disable browser extensions to see if they are causing connection issues.

WebSocket

The WebSocket portion of Arcules NetReady checks whether your browser can establish a WebSocket connection. A WebSocket connection is required for live and playback features within the Arcules platform.

During this test, the client's browser generates a WebSocket connection. The browser will first send a message to the Arcules server and then wait for a response. Once the browser validates that the message has been received from the server, the test is marked as passed.

If the test fails, it may indicate firewall, network restrictions, or security software that is blocking WebSocket traffic. Browser issues, such as compatibility, version, and installed extensions, could also be contributing factors.

Troubleshooting:

  1. Ensure that your network allows TCP traffic over ports 80 and 443.

  2. Check your device's security software and/or firewall settings to ensure that WebSocket traffic is allowed.

  3. Check your device's security software and/or firewall settings to ensure that *.arcules.com is excluded from SSL/TLS deep packet inspection.

  4. Check whether your browser supports WebSocket and ensure that it is updated to the latest version.

  5. Disable browser extensions to see if they are causing connection issues.
