Whether you're safeguarding sensitive areas or documenting crucial interactions, Arcules empowers you with audio recording capabilities to maintain a vigilant ear on your surroundings. In this article, we'll explore the following recorded audio functionalities:
Enable continuous audio recording.
Enable audio to record only when video recording is triggered.
Playback of audio recordings synchronized with video playback.
Audio Recording Device Support
Axis (VAPIX®) cameras with integrated microphones. Example: AXIS-M1075
Axis (VAPIX®) cameras with audio support for external microphones.
Camera-to-Cloud device are currently not supported.
Prerequisites
User must have the IT Manager or Installer role to enable audio recording capabilities and listen to audio recordings.
User must have the Audio Playback Operator role to listen to audio recordings.
How to
First, ensure your camera's microphone is enabled during the set up process.
Navigate to the Devices > select Video
Select your camera with audio microphone support and open the device drawer
Select Settings > Recording Settings
In the Record Microphone dropdown menu, choose Always if you want to record audio continuously, 24/7. To record audio only when video recording is triggered (whether by motion or on a custom schedule), select With Video.
Click Save
Playback audio with video
Playback audio with your video recordings directly within the video player. Have control over your audio experience with the ability to mute or unmute the sound and adjust the volume levels as needed. On the timeline, easily identify audio sequences to know where there is audio available.
When exporting evidence with audio, follow the standard export procedure used for video. If audio has been recorded, you will have the option to toggle its inclusion in the exported file alongside the video.
While our web app currently supports audio playback alongside video, you may not be able to access audio data if no video is triggered. Users are advised to reach out to support@arcules.com and provide the date/time range for the desired full audio data.
Audio Local Buffering and Retention
Within the video channel's device drawer, you have the option to customize audio local buffering by selecting either the gateway's default configuration or setting a custom buffering period. Furthermore, you can manage audio retention settings by choosing to either inherit the same retention period as video recordings or specify a custom time period.
