If you have Axis cameras that support Axis Object Analytics (AOA), you can use people and vehicle detections from them throughout your Arcules system.
Arcules Device Analytics work with:
Any Arcules architecture - edge gateway, cloud gateway, and camera-to-cloud
Additional 20 to 100 Kbps bandwidth to the Arcules cloud per camera
See design considerations for more information
What can these analytics do?
Detect people and vehicles
Show results in Forensic Search
Trigger rules including alarms and notifications
Show on the playback timeline
Display widgets for people count, parked vehicle count, and people heat map
Use Axis Object Analytics Scenarios for deeper event analytics
Line crossing, loitering detection, and other AOA custom functions
Use Cloud Analytics for color search
See design considerations for more information
Configuring for Gateway-connected Axis Cameras
Arcules Device Analytics for Axis cameras enables people and vehicle detections, similar to Arcules Cloud Analytics. This will typically be deployed for cameras connected to edge gateways.
Summary
While people and vehicle detection can work in a few clicks, there are some design considerations you may want to review before these steps:
Confirm AOA is enabled in your camera's AXIS OS web interface
Enable Object Detection in your camera device drawer in your Arcules web app
Select the "Device" analytics source
Adjust Resemblance and Rule Regions if needed
Create rules and widgets
Use Forensic Search
Find object detections on the playback timeline
Enable AOA in the AXIS OS web interface
In your camera's AXIS OS interface, go to the "Analytics" tab, choose "AXIS Object Analytics," and click the "Start" button.
NOTE: If the button says "Open," AOA is already started and no action is needed.
In older Axis firmware (earlier than 11.10), go to the "Apps" tab, find the "AXIS Object Analytics" application, and enable the toggle.
Ensure that the camera is streaming metadata — in the "System" pane, navigate to the "Analytics metadata" screen and click "Analytics Scene Description" if it is not already checked. Click Save.
Enable device object detection in the Arcules web app
In the Arcules web app, navigate to the Devices pane and in your camera's device drawer, choose the "Analytics" tab.
Enable the "Object Detection" toggle.
Choose "Device" for the analytics source.
See troubleshooting if you these options aren't available.
Leave the Resemblance slider(s) for people and vehicle detection at the default level of Low unless you find you are getting too many false detections.
Configure rules (alarms and notifications)
Add Rule Regions to restrict the area of the field-of-view the triggers specific rules. For example, only trigger an alarm when people are detected in the street, not on the sidewalk.
Click on the field-of-view to create a region of interest.
You can also restrict detections from being sent until the minimum number of objects are detected at the same time. In above screenshot, two vehicles need to be parked in this driveway for an associated rule to be triggered.
Click on the Rules icon or navigate to the Rules pane to create a rule(s) that are triggered by object detections from this camera.
Remember to apply the correct Rule Region if applicable.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Make sure you are choose "Video" when you select a device type not "Camera Analytics" to use this functionality.
Configure widgets
You can create the same widgets on your dashboard as Arcules Cloud Analytics:
People Count: Provide hourly counts of people detected by a camera.
Heat Map: Determine the areas in a camera’s field of view that show higher numbers of people detections.
Parked Vehicle Count: Provide hourly counts of parked cars detected by a camera. See Add Widgets for additional information.
Forensic search
You can use people and vehicle detections in Forensic Search — see Forensic Video Search (using device analytics) for more information.
Object detections on playback
You can see people and vehicle detections on the playback timeline — see Playback for more information.
You might see people and vehicle detections on your playback timeline, or Forensic Search results, even though no video was recorded during the time of detection.
You may want to adjust your motion detection settings if you are missing recordings when the camera is detecting people or vehicles in the scene.
Design considerations and troubleshooting
Make sure you are using a camera that supports Axis Object Analytics
Use Axis Object Analytics Scenarios for deeper event analytics like line crossing and loitering
Expect an additional 20 to 100 Kbps bandwidth to the Arcules cloud per camera
