Remote access into a Camera-to-Cloud (C2C) device settings without being on the same network

Overview

Remote device access allows a user with a specific role to launch device web apps via the Arcules web portal without being on the same network to perform the following functions:

  • Enable/modify device analytics.

  • Update the device settings not available within Arcules.

  • Update the device firmware.

  • Perform tests.

Prerequisites

  • The device must be claimed and part of an organization.

  • Arcules C2C ACAP software must be running.

  • Users must have either one the following roles assigned in the Arcules web portal:

    • Remote Device Access (Limited) or Remote Device Access (Unrestricted).

Remote Device Access

1. Access the Arcules Web Portal.

2. On the left menu, select Devices. Then click on the All Devices menu.

3. A list of devices will be displayed on the right section. Select the desired C2C device for which remote access will be used.

4. On the right panel (also known as Device Drawer) you will see the device details.

5. Select the Overview section (by default this is the behavior when opening the Device Drawer).

6. Go to the Hardware Details section, click on the Reveal credentials link.

7. Select the credentials and copy them to the clipboard.

8. Go to the Connection section below and click Open connection.

9. The following dialog will be displayed:

10. Select the specific Port (443 or 80) and click Continue.

11. A Establishing Connection... dialog will be displayed.

12. After the connection is established a dialog will be displayed informing you about it. Click Continue.

Note: The temporary Remote Device Access connection will be terminated in case any of the following situations happen:

  1. Timeout exceed (30 minutes).

13. A new browser tab will be opened with the information about the Device Status page.

14. To access the Axis device settings, click on the Axis icon on the left menu:

15. A new browser tab will be opened:

16. Enter the credentials previously copied to the clipboard. Then click on the Sign In button.

17. After a successful login, the Axis device settings page will be loaded:
