Introduction
Configuring an Axis device to trigger an automated audio clip can significantly enhance the functionality and efficiency of your audio system. This capability allows you to automate announcements and alerts based on specific events or conditions, making it valuable for various applications such as:
Using automated audio clips to alert security personnel or visitors about potential security breaches or unauthorized access.
Broadcasting emergency alerts, evacuation instructions, or important announcements in public spaces.
Automating reminders and announcements in commercial settings.
Prerequisites
Axis (VAPIX®) network speakers, horns, audio modules, and cameras with built-in audio sources capable of receiving and playing audio clips
Camera-to-Cloud devices are currently not supported.
Roles: I/O Relay Operator, IT Manager
How to
Navigate to the Devices page then click the blue plus + button in the upper right hand corner and select Add IoT Device.
Fill in the appropriate details and in the manufacturer field select Axis and in the model field select Axis Generic I/O then click NEXT
Create a rule in Arcules
In the Arcules web app, navigate to the Rules page.
Click the plus icon ‘+’ in the top right corner.
Choose the specific site and location for your rule under the Where section.
Pick the device type and the device(s) you wish to include in the What section.
After configuring the trigger, choose which action will be taken when the trigger is activated. Select Trigger I/O Device and choose your Axis audio device.
Select your Sensor and Value
Optionally, you can add a duration for this trigger by clicking Add Duration and setting the desired time interval.
After configuring the trigger, choose which action will be taken when the trigger is activated. There are three types of available actions: Notifications, Alarms, and Record Video.
Create an Event in the AXIS user interface
Log in to your Axis web application and navigate to the device management section.
Navigate to System > Events and create a rule
You can use either a virtual I/O port or a physical port on the Axis device to configure and trigger automated audio clips. Please ensure it is the same port indicated in the rule created within Arcules.
Select the Action to Play audio clip and choose your audio recording.
Save your rule.
