Overview
Multi‑sensor cameras integrate multiple image sensors into a single physical device, enabling wide‑area coverage or multiple viewing angles from a single installation point. When deployed using Camera‑to‑Cloud (C2C), these devices are supported through a unified cloud connection that reflects how sensors, video streams, and on‑device storage are managed at the camera level.
This article describes how multi‑sensor cameras are represented within the C2C architecture and how they are accessed and managed.
Prerequisites
Before attempting to onboard a multi‑sensor camera to C2C, confirm that the camera model is explicitly listed as a supported C2C device and that the camera firmware meets the C2C firmware compatibility requirements. All of this information can be reviewed at the following link.
Onboarding
The process of onboarding a multi‑sensor device is similar to that of a single‑sensor device. To do so, follow the steps described in the Onboarding a Camera‑to‑Cloud (C2C) Device article.
Understanding multi‑sensor behavior in C2C
There are a couple of aspects to highlight when using a multi-sensor device in the Arcules web portal:
After the onboarding process is successfully completed, each sensor is displayed in the web portal under the Devices section as an individual row, while remaining part of a single unified device.
Each single sensor will have their corresponding video details. This includes the corresponding Overview, Storage and Analytics tab.
Currently, if an individual sensor is removed, the entire multi‑sensor device (including the other sensors) is removed.
Currently application level settings (like cloud upload enablement, cloud retention time) are shared among all channels.
FAQ
Do you support a stitched view?
A stitched view or grouped view of two or more sensors is not currently supported.
Which multi‑sensor camera models are supported for C2C?
For a complete list of supported devices, review the information in this article.
Does multi‑sensor support require Axis OS 11 or Axis OS 12 (or both)?
Axis firmware support policies are described in this article.
Is Fish-eye supported?
Currently, fish-eye is not supported.
Do I need to “claim” the device once, or once per sensor/channel?
The device only needs to be claimed once. This process automatically includes all sensors.
How are sensors/channels labeled in the portal (device vs channel terminology)?
A numerical indicator is used to differentiate the channels. These labels can be updated in the device basic settings.
Does each sensor/channel have its own status indicators (online/offline)?
Yes, each individual channel includes its own status indicator.
Can I view live video from all sensors/channels?
Yes. To view live video, access the corresponding channel’s Overview tab.
Can I play back recorded video from all sensors/channels?
Yes. After accessing the corresponding channel’s Overview tab, use the playback button in the video player to view recorded video.
Are recordings stored separately per sensor/channel or shared on the same SD card?
Recordings are shared on the same SD card.
Does remote device access (RDA) work for multi‑sensor cameras in C2C?
Yes, RDA is supported for multi-sensor devices.
Are analytics (e.g., object detection) supported on all sensors/channels?
Yes. Each channel supports the analytics that are currently available in C2C.
Is “multi‑camera search” available for multi‑sensor channels?
Yes. Video footage from all channels is included in multi‑camera search results.
Can I export video from each sensor/channel?
Yes, each individual channel supports video export.
Is cloud upload available for all channels?
Yes. Each channel uploads video footage to the cloud when Cloud Upload is enabled for the device.
